    Hi Everybody.

I have been woodworking since 1994 when my wife and I bought an old farmhouse on ten acres. The house had been gutted, with the first floor down to the studs. Some of the floors had rotted out and a basement wall had collapsed inward. What a mess! We started rehabbing the first floor in January and by April were able to move in, albeit more like camping than residing. Over the next five years I installed plumbing, heating and electricity (I told you it was OLD!) and built cabinets for the kitchen and bath, a fireplace with wood surround, and mantle plus all of the trim. In 2001 I bought a 4' x 8' CNC router and in 2003 moved to Missouri. I am always looking for new things to make and new processes to use. I hope to advance my skills by associating with other woodworkers on this forum. I will also be happy to share knowledge I have picked up along the way. Bullwinkle was my CB "Handle" in the 80's but I respond to "Bull."

Hi, Bull! Some of us have been hanging out here on the forum trying to pick up some ideas and tickle the old brain cells. I envy your your projects. I'm mostly into building furniture since our house doesn't need the kind of repairs you're talking about. It's great to see you here.

    Hi Bull,
You've found one of the best ways to increase your woodworking knowledge. Here and other forums. Networking with other woodworkers and listening to what they're talking about is one of the best ways to stay current. Good luck !

    Learning as you go

Fixing up things in a house, especially an older one, is a great way for anyone to learn more about building and making do. I never thought I'd get interested in woodworking, but just being around my husband who talks about it all the time has stimulated my interest.
