I don't remember every day, but I've been trying to take a few supplements every day. No matter how I try, there's no way I ever get as many fruit and veggie servings daily as are recommended. I take a multi, a calcium, a VitC, and a fish oil. Fish oil is great for eyesight and other things that are escaping me at the moment... I do think it's either cholesterol or hypertension that it's supposed to help regulate.
I take a multi vitamin and that's it. I have to say I was a bit scared by all the reports about how too many vitamins can actually be damaging. I should take fish oil like you though. Fortunately I'm a big fruit and veg fan so I do manage to get my 5 a day.
I try to take vitamins, but I'm so bad about remembering. I'm a vegetarian, too. I really should be taking them. I really love herbal supplements, as well. Anyone else a fan of herbal supplements?
I had tried a few in the past but then got scared when reports came out that they can be damaging (I'm thinking specifically of St. Johns Wort although I did Valerian for a time, too). I guess the problem was that I assumed they were automatically safe since they were all herbal.
Many of those reports are about the mega-doses that people seem to think are beneficial and they're really not. Some of those people take dozens of vitamin pills a day and those mega doses were harmful. I feel good taking the fish oil, yes. If you do, though, be mindful that some fish oils are better. Look for the less fatty... like salmon is good and sardine is good.
I don't take any vitamin tablets on a daily basis. But I do take a Vitamin B Plex Forte whenever I feel tired, which isn't often. I don't think we need that many vitamins. The body always discards the excess, and it is a waste even if we have them if the body doesn't really need them. I get my nutrition from the good food I eat everyday.
With the kind of work I have that requires a graveyard shift, I always see to it that I take stresstabs, vitamin C and eat fruits and vegetables to help me function well the next day.
I also try to get a long sleep during my day off to bring back the loss energy and of course try to have happy bonding moments with my family.
I didn't know Stresstabs are still on the market... haven't seen them for quite a while. What's the difference with those... if I recall, it's more of the B vitamins than other multi's?
I take a mulitvitamin every day. My eye doctor recommended Occuvite and I take it faithfully since my eyesight is bad anyway. He says it will help to prevent cataracts and macular degeneration which is prevelent in my family tree.
I take a B complex supplement as instructed by my doctor and glucosamine pills to avoid joint discomfort. I don't take any other multi-vitamins though.
Have you seen the new (at least new to me) liquid drinks now with the glucosamine instead of having to take those monstrous horse pills?
I asked my arthritis doc about glucosamine, and he said, "You can take them if you think they help." He didn't put much stock in it. He did say, however, that because people aren't getting as much sunlight as they used to because of skin cancer worries, taking a vit D supplement every day is a good thing. As veggies, we faithfully take a vegetarian vitamin every day to make sure we get any nutrients we didn't get. Also a vit C supplement, especially during flu season.
I've been doing EmergenC... in pink lemonade flavor. It's a larger dose of C and then when I need to be around a lot of people (especially kids) I do the Airborne whether or not it's supposed to work. It's still a big shot of VitC and that's good enough for me.
I am trying to take my daily dose of vitamins but I am a very busy man that I tend to forget. Good thing that I can see this thread. It serves as a reminder.
I remember by keeping the vitamin bottles near where I'm going to be eating... since I take them with food, it reminds me.
I used to take a multi-vitamin, vitamin C, and occasionally a couple other things if I was having specific problems that could be linked to a lack of this or that. Nowadays, I rarely even take a multi-vitamin although it's definitely something I'd like to get back to eventually.
Maybe I would be doing that. I just don’t know if that would also work for me. People are not the same.
Nope, they're sure not! It works for me because I know where I sit to eat my meals and I know that when I sit there for dinner, I'll see my vitamin container. If I see it and don't remember, then I'd probably have a worse problem than remembering to take a vitamin.
yup sometimes before.. but i only try taking it when im about to take an exam lol..but just recently i have this one vitamin and its giving me headache.. i still hav it on my cabinet but i stopped taking it since i dont feel good after i take it.. maybe the medicine is too strong for me or what.. i dont get sick all the time maybe because im a veggie person.. so ahh usually i dont take so much vitamins or supplements..
