I am the proud owner of a classic cabinet makers workbench that has "Chicago Machinery Exchange, Woodworking Machinery" stamped across a bottom support. Both the tail vice and the front vice feature wooden screws. (unfortunately the front vice screw has some missing sections. I'm hoping some epoxy "wood dough" will deal with this defect.) The bench was in pretty bad shape when I got it two years ago. Suffice to say I put in considerable work to clean, flatten, and revive the work surface. It's now a beautiful and useful part of my workshop. My question is: Do any of you have an idea or ideas how I might determine the age of this work piece? btw: I would be happy to provide an image of this bench to anyone who supplies me with an e-mail address (Sorry but I don't know how to upload this image otherwise )
