Do you have a regular exercise routine that you follow relatively faithfully? Although I'd like to walk a lot more, my current routine is treadmilling and I also try to get some aerobics in once in a while.

How much time per day do you spend on your exercise? Do you give yourself days off from it?

    Workout

A mechanic I know schooled me on the theory of isometrics, he said that his profession utilized it with their ratchets and wrenches. I think the same holds true for woodworking, to a large degree. Woodworking also requires a fair sense of balance.

My exercise routine involves walking to the fridge and back at the moment after breaking a bone in my neck! Ouch! Before that I was going to 4 gym classes a week. I'm missing it more than I thought I would.

I like to do the whole gamut. I really want to build some strengths, so I usually workout with free weights. Also, I think cardio exercise is important. I usually run around the track at my gym. However, I've been kind of lazy about keeping up with it. I really need to get back on track:(

Ouch is right... that sounds horrible! Did you break it doing something at the gym, or unrelated to exercising? That really sounds painful. :(

I like to try and do about 1 hour of cardio 2-3 times per week. Now that I have gotten a little older, it is easier to gain weight fast. Am I the only one that this happens to? I Just Love food, so i guess if I'm gonna eat good, i got to exercise!! Gonna go grill some BBQ RIBS Now!! :p

I don't have a regular routine, but I take the stairs often and I walk several times a week to a local neighbourhood where I do some grocery shopping, etc.

I'd like to start swimming more regularly.

Nope, I sure don't, and it drives me crazy. I really wish I had more of a routine, but really, I hate exercising and it's hard to find the time for other physical activities to replace it.

My exercise routine consists of simple exercises like walking and jogging, however I do them consistently which increases their effectiveness in my body. I think it is better to stick with simple exercises for a long time instead of a complex one for a short time.

I don't have specific time arrangement for exercise. I just walk when I go to any place just near our house instead of riding a cab. I guess, doing the household chores and minding my daughter also helps a lot plus eating the right food instead of junk food has helped me maintain my body even if I already have a child.

My current routine is 15 minutes on the “Body Slender”, 2 exercises with the dumbbell with 50 repetitions each and 3 exercises on the ab roller with 50 repetitions each.

That makes sense to me, too... a lot of times when we bite off more than we can chew, we end up giving up exercise completely instead of simply switching to something less complex.

Right now I am in rehab after a joint replacement, and I am learning all kinds of things about bone, muscle, and tendon, and striving for more range of motion than I had before. I haven't been able to get out and walk for ages, and I'm really looking forward to that, because I really like strapping on the old CD and having a brisk walk to my favourite songs.

That's what I should do with the treadmill... but I don't. I always have good intentions and then other stuff comes along in a day's time and I find myself with another day of not having treadmilled. It's maddening.

That's a very good part of an exercise routine, swimming. Unfortunately I never learned how, so it would be more like drowning for me and... well, I'm just not interested in that. :D

I now that I have mention that I have an equipment but these past few weeks I haven’t been able to step on it. I’m trying to get back to my groove because I’m too busy with my sites.

Now that two months have passed since you wrote this, have you found it
any easier to get back into an exercise routine... or is it still difficult for you?
I really need to find some motivation.

We have an exercycle that shows you how many "miles" you've biked, your heart rate, and how many calories you've burned. If I exercise quite quickly I can burn about 250 calories in a half an hour. I try to do it twice a day.

Wow, that is *excellent* heretoday! I used to have a bike but it needed to be replaced and we haven't done it get. It didn't have the readings, though.. that would be great! I do have a treadmill that has the computerized readouts and I'd have to nearly knock myself out to burn 250. :)

Well, I've kind of worked my way up to the 250 calorie mark, Katharina.:D
We found this exercycle at our local thrift shop and it cost us a big $25.00. It was a really good score, and that kind of encourages us to use it.
