POST WHAT YOUR FAVORITE WOOD IS HERE Here's mine ZEBRAWOOD Microberlinia brazzavillensis or Zebrawood has a very exotic appearance, black or brown stripes contrasting with a yellow color. The woods janka rating is 1575 with a specific gravity of .74 and is a very durable wood. The timber appears best when cut quatersawn which shows the stripes rather than being plain sawn. This wood has its own smell when being workerd some find it unpleasant while I, Dreamwake find it a very good smell. The grain is wavy and interlocked and has a texture from medium to course. This wood has good gluing properties. Its great for a project that requires an exotic look. The tree can grow to 150 feet tall and a trunk diameter of 4 to 5 feet. It is native to the countries of Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in West Africa and is readily available.
