In our opinion, Craig Ferguson wins by a mile. He is clever and quick, and he's also a good interviewer. How about you?
Oooops... I don't even know who he is. With having to get up between 4 and 5 a.m., I'm afraid that watching late night television is a thing of the past as far as I'm concerned.
I work til late so Craig Ferguson is on my nocturnal schedule. My husband goes to work pretty early, so he'll usually take an hour's or so nap, mostly to be able see Craig Ferguson. On Comedy Central, there is currently a stand-up he did. It was OK (I think he does better ad-libbing on his show). He's also all over YouTube. Check him out and tell me what you think!
Chelsea Lately Another really good host is Chelsea Handler. Her show is called Chelsea Lately, and the best part is the Round Table (I don't think that the table they use is round, but I'm nit-picking here). She and three other comedians remark about entertainment news, and they can be hilarious. Her show has been moved to 11pm which might be a better time for viewing. It's always good to have a laugh before sleep; it promotes better dreams.
I loved Johnnny Carson and never missed The Tonight Show while he was the host. After he retired, I just couldn't get into Jay Leno. Don't think I can watch the new guy, either.
I'm another Johnny fan. Leno is ok, I like his headlines. Other than that I watch the news and go to bed. Johnny was so naturally funny that is just flowed. The others seem to be working at it.
We used to love it when Johnny Carson had Rodney Dangerfield on. They could keep everyone in stitches! For a time we lived in the middle of a big city, and on summer nights when people left their windows open, you could hear everyone in the neighbourhood laughing at Johnny and Rodney!
My favorite night was just a couple before he retired when he had Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters on with him. At one point he remarked "What to I care, I'm out of here in two days!"
Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters were totally surreal together! I used to wonder what Robin used to think about working with his childhood hero? Alot of us don't get to have that kind of dream fulfilled.
Unfortunately he was so hyped up on drugs that he probably wasn't thinking much at all. I wonder how much of his comedic genius was tied to drug use.
But to answer the question of this forum, none. I almost never watch those shows anymore. The hosts just don't strike me as someone I'd want to have over for dinner.
